The Lippisch P.13a

1/72 scale PM kit.

A rocket motor or towing was planned for take off.  When sufficient speed was reached the coal gas powered ramjet was to start and
power the P13a for the rest of the flight except for the final gliding portion.  The P.13a was not completed but the DM-1 glider
apparently was and was test flown.  After the war the DM-1 was taken to NACA Langley and tested in the full size wind tunnel.
The test data and other experience gained from the P.13a and DM-1  projects led to the XF-92, F-102, F-106, B-58, Concorde
and others.  A picture of the DM-1 is here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Akaflieg_DM_1.jpg
